Artemis-Echoes

ARTEMIS is a three-year research project with a consortium of 22 European partners (and two associated partners), led by the Italian National Research Council (CNR).
At the heart of ARTEMIS is the Heritage Digital Twin. This concept encompasses the physical heritage object (ranging from a small artefact to a large monument), together with all the digital information linked to it, as well as the system that connects these data sources. The digital information may include historical documents, physical measurements, test results, 3D and VR models, environmental data, and archival resources that all help provide context for the original object.
Over the next three years, ARTEMIS will:
-
develop the cloud-based digital infrastructure that enables the connection of digital data from different sources,
-
create and integrate the necessary tools and services for data collection, experimentation, and more,
-
develop 3D and VR technologies aimed also at engaging the wider public,
-
conduct tests and pilots in real-life situations,
-
provide training to end users of ARTEMIS,
-
establish a research infrastructure (RI) that is well integrated with other existing heritage infrastructures and initiatives (such as ARIADNE, 4CH, DARIAH, DIGILAB.be, and HSDS).
Finally, to ensure that as many heritage institutions and professionals as possible are aware of and engaged with ARTEMIS, the project leverages social media and other communication channels to share updates on its activities, participates in and organizes heritage events, and promotes the adoption of Heritage Digital Twin technology.
